SNAP Benefits September 2025: When Payments Arrive in Every State

Every American family depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) each month to put food on the table.

In California, Texas, Florida, New York, and every state across the country, benefits are issued according to state-specific schedules, not all on the same day.

SNAP is federally funded but administered by each state, which is why the exact payment date can vary based on factors like:

  • Case or account number

  • First letter of last name

  • Date of birth

Payments are deposited directly onto an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card for groceries.

There are assistance programs designed to help you. See what you’re eligible for here!

What You Can Buy With SNAP (CalFresh in CA, Lone Star Card in TX, etc.)

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables

  • Meat, poultry, fish

  • Dairy products

  • Breads, cereals, grains

  • Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages

  • Seeds and plants to grow food at home

Not allowed: alcohol, tobacco, pet food, vitamins, or hot prepared meals (with limited exceptions).
