Stimulus Payments September 2025: Which States Will Send Checks This Month?

As September begins, many Americans are still looking for extra financial relief to keep up with daily expenses.

While there is no new federal stimulus check, several states are continuing their local aid programs, offering direct payments to residents who qualify.

Here are the three states sending payments in September 2025 and what you need to know:

New York – STAR Program (School Tax Relief)

• What it is: A property tax relief program for eligible homeowners.

• Amount:

  • General homeowners: $350–$600

  • Seniors: $700–$1,500

• Who qualifies:

  • Homeowners who meet income and residency requirements.

  • Seniors with enhanced exemptions may receive higher payments.

California – Guaranteed Income Pilot (Sacramento)

• Payment Date: September 15

• Amount: Varies depending on program terms.

• Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must live in one of these zip codes: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, 95838

  • Be the parent or legal guardian of a child ages 0–5

  • Household income must be below 200% of the federal poverty level

This program is designed to help struggling families with young children by providing no-strings-attached monthly cash payments.

Alaska – Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

• Payment Date: September 11

• Amount: Varies depending on the year’s oil revenues.

• Eligibility Requirements:

  • This assistance is for Alaska resident for all of 2024 and intend to remain indefinitely.

  • Cannot claim residency in another state or country since Dec. 31, 2023.

  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or multiple misdemeanors during the qualifying year.

  • Must not have been absent from Alaska for more than 180 days, unless for school, health, or military service.

While the federal government is not sending stimulus checks in September 2025, New York, California, and Alaska have active programs that will deliver payments throughout the month.
